A high-quality mixed-use development of homes and business opportunities on the edge of Bridgnorth – designed to meet the needs of local people and to promote the long-term future of the Livestock Market.

Proposals include

  • 500 - 550 homes of mixed size and type, with affordable provision (tenanted / shared ownership)
  • Care Home / Extra Care facility / Retirement Living
  • Foodstore
  • Neighbourhood centre (potentially including nursery, café, supplemental retail, etc)
  • Hotel
  • Family pub
  • Petrol filling station / EV charging
  • Relocated livestock market
  • Business space, light industrial and warehousing units
  • Public open space, landscaping, ponds and woodland planting

Much needed housing

Exceeding minimum standards for public open space, tree canopy cover and enhanced biodiversity net gain, Tasley Gateway will provide much needed housing of differing sizes and types at all levels of affordability, along with opportunities for new businesses to grow whilst supporting the existing businesses at the Livestock Market.

Local Facilities

Tasley Gateway will provide additional much-needed food retailing and other local facilities within a neighbourhood centre to the western side of Bridgnorth, all of which will help to reduce traffic congestion in the town centre.

In addition, it is hoped that Bridgnorth will be seen as a destination for national hotel and family-pub operators to satisfy the lack of existing supply.

New Livestock market

Bridgnorth Livestock Market is an important asset to the town and the wider rural area. As a highly successful location for the sale of livestock from all across the UK, the market not only also brings additional trade into the town, but supports a wide variety of connected businesses both on site and locally. Its future is seen as a cornerstone to the Tasley Gateway development

A new state-of-the-art Livestock Market will be built to meet the needs of a changing industry with an emphasis on creating an enhanced visitor experience for local farmers and to provide improved facilities for existing and new ancillary businesses.

Environment

With a focus on increased wildlife and planting, the aim is to deliver a scheme where different uses can sit comfortably near to each other within a landscape of existing trees, hedgerows, wetlands, and new planting.

Trees with preservation orders will be protected and, wherever possible, existing trees and hedgerows will be retained to provide a natural landscape structure for the development to sit within, ensuring existing habitats are safeguarded and new ones encouraged.

Climate Emergency

Tasley Estates are committed to supporting the Climate Emergency that was declared by Shropshire Council in 2019. The new development will be focused on sustainable resources, local businesses and trades will be involved in the construction work, and buildings will be designed and constructed to better-than Building Regulation requirements.

Particular emphasis will be given to enhanced ecology and more trees whilst providing high quality green infrastructure for people and habitats to co-exist, sustainable drainage will be used across the site, houses will be heated by direct electricity or ground-source heat pumps and be provided with EV charging points, and carbon footprints will be reduced where possible.

Other Key Issues

The Tasley Gateway development team will work with Shropshire Council and other local stakeholders to assist in addressing issues such as:
  • Traffic
  • GP Surgeries
  • School Capacities
